Honeywell’s Solstice® Portfolio Named Sustainability Award Winner by Energy + Environment Leader

The publication announced that the Solstice® portfolio is a 2022 award recipient for its contribution in helping companies meet sustainability and environmental goals.

Honeywell is the proud winner of a Top Project of the Year award from Energy + Environment Leader, one of the top sustainability publications that also features a rigorous annual awards program. Our Solstice® portfolio of hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) received the award for its contribution to improving sustainability across industries.

With categories of Top Product and Top Project, E + E Leader awards are given to solutions for their success in helping end users reach environmental and energy management goals. Winning submissions require specific results and validation to demonstrate their effectiveness, and they’re shared with the sustainability media and industry leaders at the publication’s Sustainability Summit, taking place this week.

And the winner is…

What did the judges have to say about Honeywell’s solutions? Explaining their vote for Solstice®, judges remarked, “The Solstice® portfolio of products has been designed to use a chemical bond that dissipates quickly rather than hydrofluorocarbons that trap heat in the atmosphere. Considered low-global-warming-potential (GWP) they're the next generation to combat climate change.”

Solstice® products have already reduced emissions equivalent to taking nearly 56 million cars off the road, and with new innovations such as Solstice® N71—Honeywell’s lowest GWP refrigerant—becoming available, these solutions will continue supporting emissions reduction for years to come in industries as varied as air conditioning, industrial refrigeration, and even health and personal care products. Honeywell’s recent partnership with AstraZeneca will develop and commercialize a next-generation respiratory inhaler using Solstice propellants, extending the emissions reduction potential of this technology.

In 2021, about 60% of our new product introduction research and development investment was directed toward products that improve environmental and social outcomes for customers. Honeywell is dedicated to developing and commercializing new technologies to meet the growing customer demand for sustainable solutions that help accelerate the path to a low-carbon economy without sacrificing performance, health or safety. These award-winning technologies demonstrate the impact that Honeywell’s technology is making today, as well as their ability to create a more sustainable future.
